WEST LAFAYETTE — No. 3 Notre Dame travels to face Purdue in the 90th meeting between the in-state rivals. The Irish enter 3-0 after wins over Wisconsin, Rice and Michigan State, while Purdue is 1-2 after opening the season with a win over Ball State before losses to Louisville and UCLA. Notre Dame has won the last eight meetings.
Notre Dame’s offense is led by quarterback CJ Carr, who remains the starter heading into the Purdue game. The Irish have also continued to develop their receiving corps around Jordan Faison, while the offensive line is dealing with several injuries, including Matty Augustine, Charles Jagusah and Chris Terek.
Purdue is coming off a 20-17 loss at UCLA and has been searching for consistency during its first season under head coach Barry Odom. The Boilermakers are beginning Big Ten play after facing Louisville and UCLA, giving them two games against Power Four opponents already this season.
The biggest storyline is Purdue's ability to handle Notre Dame's defense and keep Carr from controlling the game. Notre Dame has also had to manage injuries on defense, with several defensive linemen and defensive backs listed as out on its latest availability report.
The rivalry carries plenty of history, with this being the 90th all-time meeting. Notre Dame's last visit to West Lafayette came in 2024, when the Irish defeated Purdue 66-7.
