COLUMBUS — Illinois travels to face No. 7 Ohio State in the Illini’s first Big Ten game of the 2026 season. Both teams enter at 2-1, with Illinois coming off a 45-14 win over Southern Illinois after a 31-27 loss to Duke, while Ohio State is coming off a 41-7 win over Kent State. This is the 105th meeting between the programs and the latest matchup for the Illibuck rivalry trophy.
Illinois has a new starting quarterback in Katin Houser after Luke Altmyer exhausted his eligibility. Houser has completed 60 of 81 passes for 758 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions through three games. He also has prior experience against Ohio State, having started for Michigan State in a 38-3 loss to the Buckeyes in 2023.
