Game Analysis:
MINNEAPOLIS — The Packers open the 2026 season on the road against the Vikings in an important NFC North matchup. Green Bay went 9-7-1 last season and missed the playoffs, while Minnesota finished 9-8 after a late five-game winning streak. The Packers have won seven of the teams’ meetings since 2019, but 15 of the last 23 regular-season games in Minnesota have been decided by single digits.
Green Bay’s biggest storyline is Jordan Love and whether the Packers can get more out of their passing game. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and first-round rookie Matthew Golden headline a reshaped receiving group, while Green Bay could also lean heavily on the running game. The offensive line is worth watching, particularly right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele, whose availability remains uncertain.
Minnesota enters with a much bigger quarterback storyline. Kyler Murray has been named the starter, with veteran Carson Wentz as QB2 and J.J. McCarthy surprisingly dropping to third string.
