Tournament Analysis:
Hello friends, and welcome to the first Major tournament of the golfing calendar, and one of the most prestigious events in all of sport. So settle down, throw on some golf, and I’ll tell you what you need to know to hopefully make the most out of some sweet gambling offers.
Wow the first day was insane. Viktor Hovland and Brooks Koepka came out on absolute tears, and after a terrible double bogey on the first hole Jon Rahm came firing back with more birdies than a zoo and finished 7 strokes under par. Brooks seems to be running away with this and is more locked in than Tom Hanks in the Terminal. As of writing this he is in the lead by four stroked after his second round, and is still at + odds. I said pre-tournament that I liked Brooks to do well this week, and I stand by that.
Another pick I like after watching some of his play is Viktor Hovland to finish top ten. This bet is only -140, and after his dominating play in the first round I really like that pick. He has struggled a bit so far in this second round, but only has one bogey so far this entire tournament. He's shown he can handle Amen Corner, and is the World Ranked number nine for a reason. Right now he is only two strokes back of second place, and there is a lot of golf left to play. Hovland has proven he can hang at Augusta, and I think he can keep it up and finish in the top ten at least.
Now let’s look at a bit of a dark horse pick to come back and win it all. Brooks is the obvious choice to take it home, but there is a loooot of golf left and anything can happen. This guy I called out pre-tournament to win it all, and while he has not dominated like Brooks, it still playing the course very well. This man is Jordan Spieth. As I said before, he has won on Easter Sunday for two years running, and I love storylines like that. He is currently 5 under and 7 strokes back of the lead. He has looked solid and in control, and this guy knows the course very well having won previously. He is the fifth favorite to win, and you can get him at around +1400 odds. Obviously a long shot and by no means a lock, but in my opinion there is a little bit of value there if you can wager responsibly.
You might like my picks or you might have your own, either way, gamble responsibly and get your own Friday Beers merch!
