BATON ROUGE — No. 11 LSU opens the season at home against Clemson in one of Week 1’s biggest matchups. It is also the first game of the Lane Kiffin era at LSU, while Clemson enters looking to rebound from a disappointing 7-6 season and immediately prove it remains an ACC contender. LSU is currently favored by around 10.5 points.
The biggest storyline for Clemson is the quarterback transition. Christopher Vizzina has officially been named the starter after spending the past three seasons behind Cade Klubnik, and he has very limited career experience. He showed what he can do in his lone start against SMU last season, throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns, but facing LSU in Tiger Stadium is a completely different challenge.
