PHILADELPHIA — The Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles meet Friday night at Lincoln Financial Field in the final preseason game for both teams. Cincinnati enters 2–0, while Philadelphia is 0–2, but the records are secondary with roster cuts approaching. Kickoff is 8:00 p.m. ET.
For Cincinnati, the biggest storyline is that Joe Burrow and the rest of the starters are not expected to play. Zac Taylor has already decided to keep his starters out for the remainder of the preseason, meaning this game is almost entirely about the players fighting for roster spots and depth-chart positions.
The Bengals have actually looked strong without their starters, entering the finale 2–0 after beating Detroit and then dominating Chicago 27–9. Josh Johnson and Sean Clifford have handled the quarterback duties, while Cincinnati's young defensive players have provided plenty of encouraging performances.

DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon are particularly interesting injury storylines. Both have returned to full practice after hamstring issues, although Smith isn't expected to play and the Eagles are weighing whether Lemon needs game reps or should simply be protected for the regular season.

The biggest difference between the teams is what they're trying to accomplish. Cincinnati has already gotten encouraging results from its young depth and is mostly trying to settle the bottom of the roster. Philadelphia needs to determine which of its reserve players can actually contribute after an 0–2 preseason.
Ultimately, this is a roster-bubble game rather than a showcase of Burrow vs. Hurts. Neither team's established stars are the reason to watch Friday. The real story is which young players can turn their final preseason opportunity into a spot on the 53-man roster.
