For Detroit, the biggest storyline is the continued evaluation of the depth chart after a 17–13 win over Washington. The Lions have already gotten meaningful preseason work from several starters, but there are still important battles along the offensive line and at linebacker and in the secondary. Detroit recently placed Damone Clark on injured reserve and added center Gus Hartwig because injuries have depleted the interior line.

For Detroit, watch the offensive-line depth and young defensive players. For Indianapolis, Richardson and the quarterback battle are the biggest attractions, along with whether the starting offense can establish some rhythm.
Ultimately, this is a final audition before roster cuts. Neither team needs to win, but there are plenty of players who need a strong Saturday to turn a good summer into a roster spot.
