Game Analysis:

COLUMBUS — Oregon travels to Ohio Stadium on Saturday, November 7, to face No. 11 Ohio State in a major Big Ten showdown. The Ducks enter at 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Buckeyes are 6-2 and 4-1 in the Big Ten. Oregon comes off a 34-26 comeback victory over No. 20 Northwestern, while Ohio State is looking to rebound from a 30-18 loss to USC. Both teams have plenty at stake as the conference race heats up.

Oregon's offense showed signs of life last week behind quarterback Dylan Raiola, who threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern. Wide receiver Dakorien Moore had a breakout performance with seven catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Moore leads the Ducks with 545 receiving yards and six touchdowns this season. Oregon will need another strong performance from that connection against an Ohio State defense that has been particularly difficult to attack through the air.

Ohio State has one of the nation's most dangerous receiving threats in Jeremiah Smith, who has recorded 62 catches for 1,067 yards and 13 touchdowns through the first eight games. Running back Bo Jackson has also provided a strong ground presence, giving the Buckeyes balance offensively. However, Ohio State has a major question at quarterback after Julian Sayin was ruled out, leaving freshman Luke Fahey in line to lead the offense. Fahey threw for 260 yards and a touchdown in his first start against USC, but Oregon's defense will present a difficult challenge.

The defensive matchup could determine the outcome. Ohio State has been outstanding at limiting opposing offenses, ranking among the nation's best against both the pass and the run. Oregon's defensive front, led by Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, has combined for 12 sacks and will look to pressure Fahey into mistakes. The Ducks will also need to limit Smith's opportunities to make explosive plays, something that is easier said than done.

Ohio State leads the all-time series 10-2, although Oregon has won two of the last three meetings. The Buckeyes have also won 12 consecutive games at Ohio Stadium, making Columbus a difficult place for any opponent to visit. Oregon has shown it can compete with elite teams, but the quarterback uncertainty for both programs and Ohio State's defensive strength make this a challenging road test. The Buckeyes have the home-field advantage and a slight edge, but the Ducks have enough talent to make this a close contest.
