ANN ARBOR — No. 17 Iowa and No. 18 Michigan both enter the Big Ten opener at 3-0, making this one of the first major conference tests for each team. Iowa is coming off a 55-0 win over Northern Iowa, while Michigan beat UTEP 52-17 last week.
Iowa has been especially strong defensively. The Hawkeyes have allowed only 13 points through three games, including two shutouts, and are giving up just 176.7 total yards per game. Cam Buffington leads the team with 27 tackles, while the defense has forced four turnovers.
Offensively, Iowa has been much more productive than its traditional reputation might suggest.
