Game Analysis:
ATHENS — No. 1 Georgia enters at 6-0 and 4-0 in SEC play, while Auburn is 3-2 and 1-2 in the conference. Georgia is coming off a 20-17 road win over Alabama, while Auburn had a bye after losing 24-14 at Tennessee.
Georgia has been one of the most complete teams in the country, averaging 46.4 points and nearly 475 yards per game while allowing only 14 points per game. Gunner Stockton gives the Bulldogs an experienced presence at quarterback, and Georgia has complemented him with a rushing attack averaging more than 210 yards per game.
Auburn is in its first season under Alex Golesh and has leaned heavily on quarterback Byrum Brown. Brown rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee, while Jeremiah Cobb and the rest of the backfield give the Tigers multiple options on the ground. Auburn is averaging 180 rushing yards per game but has been less consistent throwing the ball.
The central matchup is Auburn’s rushing attack against a Georgia defense allowing fewer than 75 rushing yards per game. Auburn’s defense will also have to slow a Georgia offense that has been effective on early downs and third down, with Stockton benefiting from one of the SEC’s strongest running games.
