Game Analysis:
TUSCALOOSA — No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama both enter at 5-0 and 3-0 in SEC play, making this one of the biggest games of the regular season. Georgia is coming off wins over Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, while Alabama has already picked up road SEC victories at Kentucky and Mississippi State.
Georgia has been dominant offensively, averaging an NCAA-best 51.4 points per game. Gunner Stockton ranks third nationally in passing efficiency, while Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens have combined for 11 rushing touchdowns. The Bulldogs have also been extremely strong defensively, allowing just 13.4 points per game.
Alabama has been nearly as productive, averaging 49.6 points and 473.8 yards per game. Quarterback Keelon Russell has 1,414 passing yards, while Daniel Hill leads the rushing attack with 247 yards and Ryan Coleman-Williams has 376 receiving yards.
The biggest matchup is Alabama's offense against a Georgia defense that has been particularly effective against the run, allowing only 57.4 rushing yards per game. Georgia will also have to deal with Russell's ability to extend plays, something Kirby Smart specifically highlighted this week.
The rivalry also carries plenty of recent history. Alabama leads the all-time series 45-27-4 and has won nine of the 11 meetings in Tuscaloosa, but Georgia won the most recent matchup 28-7 in last year's SEC Championship Game.
