Match Analysis:
The Celtics and the Trailblazers. I don’t wanna be that guy but we’ve already seen this game get played out and the Celtics won. By a lot. Even though the Celtics have been in a slight slump going three and four in their last seven games this Trailblazers game is the perfect remedy. Portland couldn’t stop Boston then, and I doubt they will stop them now.
I have two words when talking about the Portland Trailblazers. Damian. Lillard. He is such an elite guard that it’s crazy he isn’t talked about more often. Dame is averaging 32.3 points per game right now, which puts him third in the entire NBA for that stat. He has already dropped a seventy piece this year and who knows when he’s liable to explode for another. However, that is the biggest issue with the Trailblazers, they are a one-trick pony. And if you manage to lock up the pony then they become a really bad team really quickly. Which is strange because they have all the pieces of a theoretically solid team. A stud center that is a black hole for boards, check. A secondary scorer who gets you at least 20 per game, they have two of those. Some hard-working defensive players that can give you some solid scrappy minutes, check. But for whatever reason, they have just not gelled this season yet again, and see themselves on the outside looking in. Dame needs a change of scenery.
The Boston Celtics are still this year’s Boston Celtics. They still have two of the most dynamic wings in the game. They still have the reigning defensive player of the year. They still have a very solid veteran presence on the team. And they still have some great bucket-getters off the bench. One player I’d love to highlight is the future Sixth Man of the Year this season, Malcolm Brogdon. Mainly because we talk about the future MVP Jayson Tatum, and perennial All-Star Jaylen Brown all the time. Malcolm is currently on track to have himself yet another 50/40/90 season and yet no one talks about him. The man has one of the best 3-point shooting percentages in a league with freaking Stephen Curry in it. And he is a bench player for this squad. There is no other team in the league with depth like that.
The Boston Celtics at the worst part of their season are still head and shoulders above a team like the Trailblazers. Don’t overthink it and have some responsible fun rooting for your favorite team. Bet on the Celtics.
