Let’s be honest. This game is much more of a formality than anything real. And no, I’m not being brutal I’m being realistic. The Celtics are a team that is pushing for a title run this season. They stacked the deck and pushed all of their chips to the middle of the table. The San Antonio Spurs are plummeting to the bottom of the NBA standings faster than my levels of happiness as I see every team but the Patriots in the AFC East get a whole lot better. The Celtics are going to crush the Spurs.
The Spurs are a team in which they have a roster that I probably can’t name any players on. If you really pressed me I guess I can pull the name Keldon Johnson out, but besides him, this team is more irrelevant than the Rockets. Speaking of Keldon Johnson though he has been looking pretty good, scoring 21.8 points per game, and 5.0 rebounds per game. I’m right now all of San Antonio is salivating at the idea of pairing him with Victor Wembanyama. Especially after the success a certain big man has had in San Antonio somewhat recently. Just to be clear I am in no way comparing Victor to Tim Duncan, but Wembanyama has been looking pretty elite in the games he’s been playing. But the fact that I’m discussing a kid who hasn't even been drafted yet in my Spurs section probably tells you all you need to know about the Spurs.
The Celtics are genuinely one of the best teams in basketball. After a terrible stretch of games, the Celtics are finally somewhat back on track with 4 out of their last 5 games being wins. Not to mention their last two wins being by more than 20. They seem to finally be playing up to their potential again. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been an insane one-two punch this whole season. They’ve been averaging 30 and 26 points per game respectively, and making it look easy. I would also like to take this section to shout out Timelord who has completely changed the layout of this team. The man is a rebounding and blocking machine and on a team where very few other players take on that role it has been refreshing, to say the least. I’m not saying this team can’t win without him, but man does he make winning easier.
