Game Analysis:
DENVER — The Seahawks and Broncos both enter at 3-2, with Denver coming off a comeback win over the Chargers and Seattle trying to respond after a 32-29 loss to San Francisco. Denver is 2-0 at home, while Seattle enters as the defending Super Bowl champion.
Seattle’s offense continues to revolve around Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba leads the NFL in receiving yards and accounts for a huge portion of Seattle’s passing production, with Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp giving Darnold additional options. The running game has been less consistent, especially with Zach Charbonnet still working back from his knee injury.
Denver’s biggest question remains its offense. Bo Nix has struggled to find consistent rhythm in his third season, and Sean Payton recently took back play-calling duties. Courtland Sutton and J.K. Dobbins both scored their first touchdowns of the season in the Week 5 comeback, while Denver’s defense produced a season-high three takeaways.
The Broncos’ secondary is a major storyline. Patrick Surtain II and Talanoa Hufanga have both been listed as nonparticipants because of ankle injuries, while Riley Moss remains limited with a rib injury. Seattle is monitoring Smith-Njigba and Leonard Williams, and Charbonnet is unlikely to make his season debut.
The central matchup is Seattle’s passing game against Denver’s depleted secondary. Denver will need its pass rush to disrupt Darnold before Smith-Njigba, Shaheed and Kupp can attack downfield, while the Broncos’ offense faces a Seattle defense allowing roughly 150 passing yards per game and less than a 30 percent conversion rate on third down.
