EUGENE — No. 21 UCLA brings a perfect 4-0 record into a ranked matchup with No. 13 Oregon, which is 3-1. The Bruins have opened Big Ten play 2-0, while Oregon is coming off a 41-27 road win over USC and has won five straight meetings with UCLA.
UCLA has been one of the conference’s biggest early surprises under first-year coach Bob Chesney. The Bruins have outscored opponents 179-75 through four games, including a 54-3 win at Maryland, and their rushing attack has been a major part of the strong start.
Oregon’s offense has been similarly productive, averaging 47.5 points and 505.5 yards per game. The Ducks have already faced ranked competition, losing to Oklahoma State before bouncing back with wins over Portland State and USC.
The key matchup is UCLA’s physical rushing attack against an Oregon defense that will be facing a much stronger offense than it saw during its nonconference stretch.
