Game Analysis:
CINCINNATI — The Jaguars and Bengals both enter at 2-1, setting up an early-season AFC matchup between two teams coming off very different Week 3 results. Jacksonville dominated New England 35-6, while Cincinnati lost a 30-27 divisional game to Pittsburgh.
Jacksonville’s biggest storyline is its defense. The Jaguars have allowed only three touchdowns through three games and lead the league with four interceptions. Trevor Lawrence has also thrown seven touchdowns against two interceptions, while Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter headline a passing attack that will face a Bengals defense that has already recorded 10 sacks.
Cincinnati continues to be driven by Joe Burrow and its receiving corps. Burrow has 743 passing yards, six touchdowns and one interception, while Tee Higgins leads the team with 244 receiving yards. Ja’Marr Chase has also become more involved after a quiet opener, producing 98 yards and a touchdown against Pittsburgh.
The Bengals have some availability concerns at receiver and safety. Andrei Iosivas is on injured reserve with a thumb injury, while rookie Colbie Young is expected to miss this game after suffering a knee injury against Pittsburgh. Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger are also being monitored after injuries to Cincinnati’s secondary.
The central matchup is Jacksonville’s turnover-producing defense against Burrow, Chase and Higgins. Cincinnati will also need Chase Brown and its rushing attack to find room against a Jaguars defense that has been particularly strong against the run.
