Game Analysis:
AUSTIN — No. 7 Ole Miss enters at 5-1 and 3-1 in SEC play, while No. 19 Texas is 4-2 and 1-2 in the conference. The Rebels are coming off a dominant 31-3 win over Missouri, while Texas has lost two straight after falling 27-24 to Florida.
Ole Miss has been much more productive offensively, averaging 37.5 points and 444.5 yards per game. Trinidad Chambliss has thrown for 1,676 yards and has accounted for 14 touchdowns, while Kewan Lacy is coming off his best rushing performance of the season with 122 yards against Missouri.
Texas is trying to get Arch Manning and its offense back on track. Manning has thrown for 1,295 yards and 11 touchdowns, but the Longhorns have struggled to consistently sustain drives. Texas is going three-and-out on 34.3 percent of its possessions, the worst rate in the SEC.
A major concern for Texas is the status of Colin Simmons. The star edge rusher leads the nation with 10.5 sacks but suffered a high-ankle sprain against Florida and is unlikely to play. His absence would be significant against an Ole Miss offensive line that has played some of its best football over the past two weeks.
The central matchup is Ole Miss’ offense against a Texas defense that still ranks among the best nationally despite its recent losses. Texas leads the all-time series 6-2, but Ole Miss won the most recent meeting 44-23 in Austin in 2013.
Anything can happen in sports betting. Go with your gut because either way you GET 3 T-SHIRTS FROM THE FRIDAY BEERS STORE when you bet just $10+ on Ole Miss VS Texas!
