Game Analysis:
PHILADELPHIA — The Panthers enter at 2-2 coming out of their bye, while the Eagles are 2-3 after three straight losses. Carolina has been one of the NFL’s most productive offensive teams so far, while Philadelphia is trying to stabilize after a 19-17 loss to Jacksonville in London.
Bryce Young has been excellent through four games, throwing for 1,268 yards with nine touchdowns and only two interceptions. Rookie Tetairoa McMillan has emerged as his top target with 385 receiving yards, while Chuba Hubbard gives Carolina balance on the ground. The Panthers are averaging 30.2 points and 405.8 yards per game.
Philadelphia’s biggest issue is its depleted offense. Saquon Barkley remains questionable with a hamstring injury, Tank Bigsby is on injured reserve and Will Shipley suffered a partial tear of his plantar fascia against Jacksonville. DeVonta Smith is also working back from a hamstring injury, leaving Jalen Hurts with uncertainty around several of his primary weapons.
The Eagles have also undergone major changes along the offensive line, including Lane Johnson’s retirement and Landon Dickerson landing on injured reserve. Philadelphia managed only 22 rushing yards against Jacksonville, putting additional pressure on Hurts and a passing game that has struggled to consistently sustain drives.
The central matchup is Carolina’s surging offense against a Philadelphia defense that needs to create more pressure. The Eagles have only six sacks through five games and could be without Jalyx Hunt, while Carolina enters rested and averaging nearly 144 more yards per game than Philadelphia.
