Game Analysis:
Houston and Miami. These two teams have been absolutely rolling so far in March and I don’t know if they are gonna slow down anytime soon. Especially in that second round, both of these teams beat their opponents by at least 16 points, while both scoring more than 80 points. Talk about high-scoring offenses. While I do love Houston, especially with Sasser seemingly back to full strength, I’m more impressed with Miami’s wins. Taking Miami seems to be the play here.
Houston is an amazing basketball team. Their 33 and 3 record I would imagine speaks for itself, not to mention their top seeding. But I think they are a team that can have cold nights, specifically their game against the sixteenth seed when they shot 25% from three. I’m not entirely sold on their tournament play so far, especially their competition in comparison to UMiami’s. Now I’m not here to lie to the public, every game is a hard game when teams are fighting for survival but all I’m saying is in an Auburn-Indiana matchup, we’re all taking Indiana. I will say talent doesn’t care about competition and Houston has loads of it. Starting with Marcus Sasser, who if you don’t know by now, you should really start paying attention to. Last game he shot 50% from the field, had 22 points and even dished out a couple of assists. He wasn’t even the highest scorer against Auburn though, that title belongs to Tramon Mark who had 26 points, going basically 52% from the field. However, he did happen to go 0 for 4 from three and wasn’t the only member of Houston to do that. Their shooting is a tiny bit scary.
UMiami on the other hand has no trouble shooting. They almost shot 40% from the triple stripe against Indiana, which for reference is better than the current NBA league average. They also have what the kids would call talented players on their roster. For instance, if you let a player like Isaiah Wong catch fire. Good luck. Against Indiana, he shot 4 for 6 from three, and I’ll be honest I don’t remember seeing him miss the two he did. He dropped 27 against Indiana, but the beautiful thing about this UMiami team is that he had a horrible game in the first round. And the team still won. The depth of talent in the Umiami guard slots is deeper than my depression when I see my tournament winner go out in the second round. Against Drake, it was Nijel Pack and Wooga Poplar who were more or less quiet against Indiana. There is no one guy on this team that you can shut down and feel good about. It’s the whole freaking team. Good luck to Houston.
Houston is a great basketball team, but I actually don't think their roster depth matches up with Miami. Bet on Miami & get $200 in bonus bets instantly!
